Girls Kick It! Coming to Washington, D.C.
Under the leadership of Anna Phillips, Founder and Coordinator of Girls Kick It!, a sports empowerment program for women in Northern Uganda, we are excited to announce that 12 players from Girls Kick It! will travel to Washington, D.C. on October 13th for more than 1 week.
Girls Kick It! (www.girlskickit.org)- Facebook: Girls Kick It! provides healthy and economically sustainable opportunities for young girls and women living in internally displaced persons camps in Uganda.
GKI provides these young women with athletic games, team-building and leadership building activities and weekly soccer practice. Our players have demonstrated new-found confidence, teamwork and the belief that they have control of their futures.
On October 13th, the 12 players will travel from Uganda to Washington DC for a ten day cultural exchange with the Department of State. Many of the girls have never left the northern region of the country and are incredibly excited to come to the USA. They will be meeting with and undergoing training clinics from local high schools and universities.
We are looking forward to hosing the players in Washinngton, D.C. and hope that you will also have the opportunity to meet with them.
